Grand Jury no bills Overbey case
After listening to testimony and considering the evidence presented for almost two hours, the Butts County Grand Jury ended its deliberation of charges against Michael Overbey on Tuesday, March 2 by deciding the information presented did not merit any indictment or further action within the court system.

After listening to testimony and considering the evidence presented for almost two hours, the Butts County Grand Jury ended its deliberation of charges against Michael Overbey on Tuesday, March 2 by deciding the information presented did not merit any indictment or further action within the court system.
At approximately 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, District Attorney Richard Milam stated the case was “No Billed” and as such all records in the case would become public when the paperwork is filed later today.
Overbey was accused of having purchased narcotic pain pills on more than one occasion and subsequently resigned from his position as a major in the Butts County Sheriff’s Office on August 3, 2009 after serving for 17 years under Sheriff Gene Pope. He cited “personal reasons for his resignation.
