Farm Bureau grant aids education; Award funds agriculture-related learning materials

The Jackson-Butts County Public Library 2010 Summer Reading Club series of programs continued, on June 15, with a visit from Fiddlin’ Dan the Mountain Man. Trakonice Smith has been a Butts County resident her entire life. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her children. She is a receptionist at the Butts County Sheriff’s Office, and she has now answered 21 Questions. - Archaeologist discusses evidence of past peoples
Butts County Historical Society member, W.J. Shannon, introduced Stephen Hammack, the featured speaker at the historical society’s recent meeting, as a “full-fledged archeologist who likes to get his hands dirty.” Shannon noted Hammack’s involvement in the Ocmulgee River Basin project, just south of Macon, and his contributions to Butts County’s past four Artifact Identification Days and to the Artifact Identification Day planned for this year.
