Jenkinsburg approves 2010 operating budget
Projected operating expenditures set at $305,775 The Jenkinsburg City Council approved its city operating budget for 2010 at the last council meeting for 2009.

The Jenkinsburg City Council approved its city operating budget for 2010 at the last council meeting for 2009.
All council members were present except for David England.
Projected expenditures - a combination of municipal and water department spending of $305,775 are identical to projected income, with city spending at 162,200 and water department at 143,575.
Overall, the council budgeted $111,850 for general government, $10,850 for city hall, $26,300 for streets, $2,000 for sanitation, $8,000 for the fire department, $1,000 for memorial park, and $2,200 for city court contingencies.
General government consists of employee, mayor, and council payroll, Medicare, unemployment insurance, retirement, attorney fees, audit, legal/printing, voting polls, dues, schools and seminars, advertising, contract labor, new equipment, and zoning.
City hall consists of communications, office supplies, L.P. gas, electricity, buildings maintenance.
Streets consist of signage, equipment maintenance and replacement, street maintenance, street lights, oil and gasoline, and seasonal decorations.
Sanitation is solely for landfill fees, while the fire department entails electricity, L.P. gas, and building maintenance.
Council Member Eddie Ford made a motion to adopt the budget; Council Member David Nestor seconded the motion.
“I really hope the economy picks up, because we are really feeling the effects," said Ford.
Public Works Director Wesley Keeber informed the Council that the city was finished flushing the water lines for the year and it happened without any problems.
“I would like to give a special thanks to Jackson's electric department for helping hang our banners this year," said Keeber.
An announcement was made that there will not be another Council meeting for Jenkinsburg until January.
