Gemma is both good looking and good natured — a true gem. She is a fully grown lab mix who shows a calm attitude and doesn’t seem to have any issues. To check out Gemma, ask about 021110/452 (G63) at the Henry County Animal Shelter. (Full Story)
Shyster
Last Updated: 11:31 PM 02/24/10 - Shyster doesn’t go out of his way to get attention from potential adopters, so the staff at the Henry County Animal Shelter wanted him to be featured this week. This small, domestic, short-hair tom is about as laid back as they come, but deserves a good forever home. To draw Shyster out of his pen, ask about 020410/510 (cat) at the Henry County Animal Shelter. (Full Story)
Finn
Last Updated: 11:35 PM 02/17/10 - At first glance, Finn looks like a big, black lab, but upon further inspection, he has the jowls of a Great Dane or boxer. He also has lovely white blazes, like a border collie, on his throat and chest. He’s loving, but doesn’t like a leash. With some gentle training, that could probably be changed. To see Finn, ask about 021010/564 (G50) at the Henry County Animal Shelter. (Full Story)
Bronze Marie
Last Updated: 12:14 AM 02/11/10 - Just in time for the Winter Olympics, here’s Bronze Marie. This chow-retriever mix is sweet and affectionate. She likes to jump, so she would need a fenced yard for play. To check out Bronze Marie, ask about 010510/43 (G58) at the Henry County Animal Shelter. (Full Story)
Bristol
Last Updated: 11:42 PM 02/03/10 - Bristol is a beauty with a personality to match. She weighs about 25 pounds, and her long, fluffy tail wags enthusiastically when she sees a potential friend. This feist mix would love a new forever home. To see Bristol, ask about 10910/97 (G35) at the Henry County Animal Shelter. (Full Story)
Arliss
Last Updated: 11:07 PM 01/27/10 - Arliss is a lean, lanky guy who has an A-plus personality. He’s a big Weimaraner-lab mix, who seems very friendly and agreeable with people and other dogs. To check out Arliss, ask for 10410/6067 (G53) at the Henry County Animal Shelter at 527 Ga. Highway 20/81, McDonough. Rocko
Last Updated: 11:53 PM 01/06/10 - Rocko is looking for a new, modern life in 2010. This shepherd-hound mix came to the shelter after a local family discovered him huddled in an abandoned dog pen at their house. His leg was injured, indicating he may have been hit by a vehicle, but he has fully recovered and is anxious for a permanent home and lots of attention. Rocko seems fine with other dogs and doesn’t exhibit any signs of food aggression. To see him, ask for 111409/5659 (G40) at the Henry County Animal Shelter at 527 Ga. Highway 20/81, McDonough.

The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m., to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m., to 1 p.m. Call (770) 288-7387 (PETS). “Tails” of success: The black lab seen here last week, Willow, and her friend, William, were taken into a rescue program. (Full Story)
