Clayton County police were searching, late Friday, for two suspects involved in the shooting of two teenagers, in Riverdale, according to Lt. Tina Daniel, public information officer for the Clayton County Police Department.
One of the victims was found dead at the scene, Daniel said. The incident occurred on Apache Lane, at about 3:05 p.m., Friday, she said.
The two victims were 19-year-old black males. Daniel said they had been involved in a verbal altercation, which rose to a physical altercation, “and shortly thereafter, shots were fired.”
“It appears to be drug-related,” said Daniel. The two suspects fled the scene on foot, according to the police spokesperson.
Daniel said one of the victims was found dead inside a vehicle. Police did not immediately release the identity of the deceased victim.
The other victim, Jamal Irby, was found outside of the vehicle, according to Daniel.
Irby had been shot in the back, and was transported to Gray Memorial Hospital, in Atlanta, with non-life-threatening injuries, she said.
